Can CBD Make You High: How To Understand The Effects

We ask or think about this question all the time. Can CBD make you high? Since both CBD and THC come from the cannabis plant, some people automatically associate CBD with THC and think that because THC can make you high or psychoactive, then so can CBD. The brief answer is ‘No. CBD, on its own, cannot make you high.

The CB1 receptors in our body are highly concentrated in the brain and nervous system (and the lungs, liver and kidneys), and the CB2 receptors are in the peripheral tissues and cells of the immune system and play a role in the relief of pain. While both CBD and THC react to both CB1 and CB2, THC binds more with the CB1 receptors, thus producing that high or euphoric state while CBD binds more with the CB2 receptors giving a relaxing state.
