Demystifying CBD Tinctures: What You Need To Know

CBD tinctures usually have an alcohol or oil base and a potent cannabidiol content. Taking the tinctures under the tongue allows them to absorb directly into the bloodstream via your mouth. We consider this more potent than edibles by 10 to 40 percent.

How are CBD Tinctures Made?

Typically, to make a tincture you soak the dried flowers of the female marijuana plant in ethanol. THC and other cannabinoids and terpenes dissolve into the alcohol. The result is a highly potent liquid.

How are CBD Tinctures Administered?

Tinctures typically come in a bottle with a dropper and are taken sublingually, in small measured doses, since they are so concentrated and potent. Hold under the tongue for 30 to 60 seconds and swallow.

Sublingual means:  placing a dose under your tongue to dissolve and absorb into your blood through the tissue there.

They can also be put into drinks (see great recipe at the end of this article) and food. Effects can take place quickly.
